The Board of Trustees of the Sapelo Foundation, a private foundation, engaged in grant-making in and for the State of Georgia, have selected Christine Reeves Strigaro to be the next Executive Director. Strigaro will begin her duties on December 1, 2016.
Throughout her career Strigaro has demonstrated a commitment to social and economic justice advocacy and to the belief that philanthropy can empower marginalized communities. In her past role as senior field associate at the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP), and most recently at the Alliance for Justice where she directed that organization’s foundation programs, Strigaro has been at the forefront of encouraging foundations to engage more actively in social justice advocacy and other high-impact strategies that serve to strengthen communities. Throughout her career, Strigaro has presented across the nation to a variety of foundations and nonprofit organizations on best practices and trends in the mission driven sector. She also serves on the Board of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP); a leading national network whose mission is to develop emerging leaders committed to building a just, equitable, and sustainable society.
Strigaro earned her bachelor of arts degree from Emory University and master of public policy degree from the Sanford School at Duke University. She has also completed leadership training at Harvard’s Kennedy School, the Midwest Academy and the Rockwood Leadership Institute.
