The University of California, Davis Health System seeks a strategic and innovative clinical administration leader to serve as Director of Oncology Services (Director) as the system expands its reputation as a world class leader in cancer care. Working in close collaboration with senior level clinical and administrative hospital and cancer center leaders, and with UC Davis Health’s internationally renowned physicians and researchers, the Director is slated with a primary goal of further developing and implementing the delivery of a seamless, state of the art, patient and family centered, oncology care services model in alignment with the overall strategic plan of UC Davis Health.
The Director will lead a comprehensive oncology treatment service line that includes oversight of the oncology clinics and infusion centers for both adult and pediatric patients, the Bone Marrow Transplant program, and Radiation Oncology. As part of the senior clinical operations leadership team, the Director will lead and drive change as needed to ensure ready access to a seamless continuum of care for oncology patients throughout the region.
One of only 47 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country and the only designated center in its region, the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCDCCC), has become one of the nation’s top cancer centers, known for its acclaimed clinicians, leading-edge cancer research, and clinical trials program. U.S. News & World Report recently ranked the UCDCCC 35th among top-ranked cancer hospitals in the country. In a highly collaborative spirit innate to UC Davis Health, forty percent of the Cancer Center’s 300 plus members hold appointments outside of the School of Medicine, serving a patient population that stretches from the growing Central Valley to southern Oregon and Nevada. The Director will partner with the Director of the Cancer Center to improve services in the local community of Sacramento and improve the health of the broader region.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, strategic and innovative thinker with exceptional business and operational skills and a proven track record of advancing best in class oncology care in an NCI-designated Cancer Center. The ability to build bridges across the medical enterprise and a commitment to the highest level of patient and family support is required.
