The Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI) named Christopher C. Beyrer, MD, MPH as the next Director. 

Prior to joining DGHI, Beyrer served as the inaugural Desmond M. Tutu Professor of Public Health and Human Rights as well as a professor of epidemiology, nursing, and medicine at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Additionally, Beyrer is an internationally recognized epidemiologist who has worked on the front lines of HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 treatment and research.

Founded in 2006, the Duke Global Health Institute draws faculty from medicine and nursing, anthropology, psychology, public policy, engineering, environmental sciences and other fields to lead collaborative, interdisciplinary research and education on the most important global health issues of our time.
