Sheldon Museum of Art

We are pleased to announce that Susan Longhenry has been named Director of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Sheldon Museum of Art.

Longhenry currently serves as the Director and Chief Curator of the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University. She is a specialist in modern and contemporary art with more than 30 years of leadership experience with art museums nationwide, including The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the IMA (now Newfields), Harwood Museum of Art, and in junior positions at the Georgia Art Museum, Art Institute of Chicago and MCA Chicago. She is recognized as a progressive leader of academic art venues and brings a unique focus on the integration of academic and community engagement.

On Longhenry’s appointment, Chancellor Ronnie Green said, “Susan Longhenry is an innovative leader of academic-based museums who offers a proven background in community engagement, strategic planning, fundraising and visitor experience. Her ability to collaborate and build relationships across various audiences will certainly help elevate Sheldon’s role on campus, across Nebraska and in the museum community nationwide.”
