We are pleased to announce the completion of our search for the Vice President of Research and Innovation at Miami University. Susan McDowell has been selected for this important role, effective April 1, 2022, where she will lead the strategic growth of research activities and oversee the management of research operations.

McDowell previously served as vice provost for Research at Ball State University since 2017 and as a faculty member in the Department of Biology since 2003. As vice provost, she oversaw steady growth in annual external funding and is responsible for oversight of the largest open portfolio in the history of the university. As vice president for Research and Innovation at Miami, McDowell is responsible for facilitating groundbreaking scholarship within the university, partnerships to benefit engagement and research, and the dissemination of those discoveries for a broader impact.
