Carol Kauffman | Executive Director

Ohio Environmental Council

We are pleased to announce that Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) has selected Carol Kauffman as the organization’s next Executive Director and President of the OEC Action Fund, effective March 6, 2023.

Carol is a passionate and purpose-driven leader with a proven track record of building strong relationships and strategic programs. Carol brings more than two decades of nonprofit and corporate experience advocating for greater environmental, community, and social justice issues as well as directing sustainability programs and strategies. Carol has excelled at local organizing, coalition building, fundraising, and bringing diverse stakeholders together for a common cause. Those skills have been applied to issues spanning clean water access, immigration reform, family violence prevention, human rights, and environmental sustainability.

From 2013 to 2017, Carol was in Cambodia where she worked in the community to design development projects, helped businesses develop more responsible practices, and responded to natural disasters in the region. Since 2017, Carol has led environmental and social responsibility efforts within the corporate sector at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. Within these positions, she devised sustainability strategies, led philanthropic efforts, and engaged with a diverse array of stakeholders — including a nationwide network of environmental partners during her time at Scotts. Carol also brings a background in development and implementation of a strategic vision and collaborative direction, and has done so with thoughtful engagement, flexibility in approach, and forward thinking.
