Executive Director Boston Area Rape Crisis Center | Cambridge, Massachusetts The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC), the only comprehensive rape crisis center in Greater Boston and the oldest and largest center of its kind in New England, seeks an Executive Director who will further its mission to end sexual violence through healing and social change. The Executive Director will be an effective, equity-driven, and survivor-centered leader who will empower the agency to flourish programmatically, operationally, financially, and culturally and steward it as it celebrates 50 years of supporting survivors and their communities.BARCC serves 4.6 million people in 29 cities and towns in the Boston area and provides almost 40 percent of all rape crisis services in Massachusetts. The agency distinguishes itself by providing emergency services for survivors within a continuum of care, which allows it to address challenges that intersect with sexual violence, including domestic violence, housing insecurity, addiction, and trauma. BARCC also proactively engages in outreach efforts that build communities that value consent, safety, and connection. BARCC’s programs include a 24/7 hotline and web chat; 24/7 medical advocacy available at 18 local hospitals; counseling; case management; legal advocacy and assistance; incarcerated survivor support at 19 prisons and jails; and community outreach, awareness, prevention, and education.BARCC is supported by 31 full-time and 21 part-time staff, a 12-member board of directors, and approximately 150 volunteers. The senior leadership team is composed of the Executive Director; the Senior Directors of Finance and Operations and Community Outreach, Awareness, and Prevention Education; and the Directors of External Relations, Case Management, Clinical Programs, Emergency Services, Systems Advocacy, and Legal Advocacy and Immigration Legal Services. BARCC’s FY2023 budget is $5.1 million, and its operations, programs, and services are distributed across three offices in Cambridge, Boston, and Waltham, as well as within communities.BARCC’s next Executive Director will be rooted in survivor-centered care and will bring leadership experience in an organization similar to BARCC in its complexity, services, and funding model. The Executive Director will engage with staff, board, volunteers, survivors, and community members in participatory and collaborative strategic planning to ensure that BARCC embodies its expressed mission and vision. Their experience will prepare them to be responsible for cultivating diverse revenue streams, defining the agency’s external presence, and developing partnerships with a range of constituencies. The Executive Director will also ensure that BARCC’s administrative infrastructure is effective in its scope and scale and will invest in the agency’s ongoing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and anti-racism work. The Executive Director will bring a clear and sophisticated understanding of the intersections of systemic oppression and sexual violence and will set the tone for the agency through their willingness to respectfully challenge others and to be challenged as opportunities and circumstances require.COMPENSATION AND LOCATIONSalary range: $175,000 - $225,000Location: Residing within daily commutable distance of Greater Boston is highly desirable.
