Chief, Division of Obstetrics

Brigham and Women’s Hospital (The Brigham) invites nominations and applications for the position of Chief of Obstetrics. As Chief, this highly collaborative leader will champion the Department’s obstetrical clinical, teaching, and research activities, conducted by a diverse team of faculty and community physicians, residents, fellows, midwives, and physician assistants. The Brigham’s department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was recently recognized for its excellence in multidisciplinary care, education, research and innovation and its contribution to women’s health both locally and nationally, ranked #1 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Hospitals survey.

A world class academic medical center based in Boston, Massachusetts, The Brigham is a founding member of Mass General Brigham, formerly known as Partners HealthCare. Its network includes 1,200 doctors throughout New England, working across 150 outpatient practices. The next Chief of Obstetrics will join an outstanding team, and will be a leader who brings an evident passion for and commitment to the tripartite missions of excellence of care, innovative education, and translational research, based on an inclusive and interdisciplinary team approach to patient-centered care. Working with hospital clinical and administrative leadership, the Chief will collaborate in the development and execution of a new strategic plan for the Department in alignment with the goals of the Hospital. Responsible for further developing engagement with affiliated community health centers, the Chief will actively promote and support diversity, equity and inclusion efforts across all obstetrical care. Finally, as a senior leader, the Chief will be highly skilled and politically astute in addressing the clinical obstetrical environment, guided by a proven commitment to bolstering equity within the field of women’s health, and the educational and training background required to do so successfully.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate an exceptional work ethic and can-do attitude; be a recognized and established expert in obstetrical care; drive a spirit of inclusivity and dedication to innovation; and apply a leadership style that enthusiastically encourages collaboration and learning. An ingrained commitment to teaching fellows, residents, and medical students, while building diverse teams, is essential. The Chief of Obstetrics must be a Board-certified obstetrician- gynecologist with substantial leadership experience of obstetrical programs.
