The SVPR will join an institution newly merged with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and with the first School of Medicine in East Texas welcoming its first cohort in the fall of 2023. This is a transformative opportunity for an innovative, nimble, and collaborative leader to provide strategic vision for the untapped research potential at a newly envisioned university serving a vital role to the region.Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President’s Cabinet, the SVPR will lead the Office of Research, Scholarship, and Sponsored Programs (ORSSP) in further developing supportive, collaborative, and efficient research operations focused on expanding the research ecosystem. With a strategic plan aiming to grow the student population and double research expenditures by 2027, the SVPR will champion a research culture inclusive of all disciplines and forms of scholarship while capitalizing on areas of strength and opportunity for direct community impact. The SVPR will prioritize research integrity and compliance, leverage existing external partnerships, and creatively build collaborations with new community industries and constituents.
