Barbara’s commitment to creating partnerships across different constituencies for the betterment of higher education has been a cornerstone of her work throughout her entire career. Barbara joined Isaacson, Miller after a 20-year career serving in senior administrative roles at Yale University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Georgetown University. At Yale, she worked closely with University officers, leaders of the state and city government, and community organizations to link common objectives. At the University of Pennsylvania, Barbara served as Chief of Staff to the President and spearheaded University/West Philadelphia economic development, education, and urban greening initiatives. As Vice President and secretary, she was the primary liaison between the President, the Board of Trustees and the Boards of Overseers of the University's 12 schools. She also was responsible for dean and presidential searches. At Georgetown University, she served the Executive Committee of the President's cabinet in its re-sizing and administrative improvement endeavors. In 2000, Barbara turned her focus to executive search work, opening the Isaacson, Miller’s office in Washington, DC. She was key to the development of the firm's higher education academic leadership practice. Though having stepped away from leading searches directly, Barbara remains actively engaged with the firm, lending her considerable expertise and vast network of connections to colleagues across the four offices.
