Director of Development Pomona College | Claremont, California Pomona College announced the appointment of Kyle Hines as the director of development, effective June 1, 2023. In this newly created role and an integral expansion of Pomona’s major gifts team, Hines will drive regional fundraising strategy in support of the college’s top priorities and campaign initiatives by developing institutional affinity with alumni, parents, and friends across the United States.Following a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Michigan, Kyle held a three-month internship in Pomona’s office of annual giving before joining development teams for the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and most recently, Emory University. Hines brings a breadth of data-informed best practices from prospect management and applied moves management to his fundraising philosophy having successfully contributed to ambitious campaigns as large as $500 million and nimbly supporting divisions as large as nine schools and units. Hines is a highly strategic, collaborative, and productive fundraiser, who possesses a track record of building donor portfolios and working in lesser- traveled regions to close a number of five-, six- and seven-figure outright and deferred gifts throughout his career.Hines earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and in Psychology from Michigan State University, and a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Michigan.Rachel Ellenport led this search with Christina Garrison and Megan Gorman.
