The University of California, Merced has selected Sang Han as its next Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Development Officer, effective October 1, 2018.
With broad experience across several University of California campuses, Mr. Han most recently served as director of regional giving, development, and alumni relations for the University of California, Davis, where he was responsible for building regional development programs across the country. He brings to the position 25 years of higher education fundraising management and strategic planning experience in annual fund, major gifts, regional giving, and capital campaigns. Prior to returning to California, Mr. Han worked in unit-based development programs at the University of Michigan, first in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts during the university’s successful $3.2 billion comprehensive campaign, then in the Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
Mr. Han previously held positions of progressive responsibility in development at the University of California, Santa Barbara and at his alma mater, the University of California, Irvine, from which he earned a bachelor of arts in political science.
Mr. Han joins UC Merced at a time of growth and expansion. He will be responsible for leading development efforts for the university, working closely with Chancellor Dorothy Leland and other senior leaders across campus. Reporting to Vice Chancellor and Chief External Relations Officer Ed Klotzbier, Mr. Han will serve as chief strategist and builder of a comprehensive development program at UC Merced.
