The NEA Foundation Board of Directors selected Sara Sneed to become the next President and CEO, starting on March 1, 2019.
Joining the NEA Foundation as the former Director of Education Investments with the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, Sara led the development of initiatives enabling educators, schools, and school districts to achieve critical improvements in policies and practices supporting student learning and student success.
Sara has deep experience building strong and sustained partnerships with educators, funders, the nonprofit sector, and others. She is a nationally recognized champion of public education and a visionary leader with expertise in policy and program development and complex institutional and systems change.
Prior to working at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, Sara served as senior program manager with the Foundation for the Mid-South, where she was responsible for the Families and Children, Public Policy, and Faculty Fellows programs. Other career highlights include serving as director of maternal and child health with the Medical Foundation in Boston as well as special projects manager with the Massachusetts Department of Social services. Sara is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and holds an M.Div from Yale Divinity School (Yale University).
