Harvey Mudd College has selected Hieu Nguyen as its next vice president for advancement, effective July 22, 2019.
Mr. Nguyen joins Harvey Mudd College from the University of California, Riverside (UCR), where he served as executive vice president of the UCR Foundation and associate vice chancellor for development. During his tenure at UCR, he worked in conjunction with the vice chancellor for university advancement to manage development and alumni relations initiatives. Mr. Nguyen also played a critical role in the launch of UCR’s $300 million comprehensive campaign. While serving as associate vice chancellor, private philanthropic support more than doubled across all schools and colleges at the university.
Prior to UCR, Mr. Nguyen served as associate vice president for development at Bowdoin College, where he managed all aspects of leadership gifts, annual giving, athletic fundraising, stewardship programs, and development research. Earlier roles include assistant vice president for college advancement at Bates College and assistant director of leadership gifts and senior development officer at Middlebury College. Prior to his career in advancement, Mr. Nguyen worked for Qualcomm, Inc., and Burlee LLC.
Mr. Nguyen is a graduate of Middlebury College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Civilization.
