Director of Advancement Talent Management Hanover, NH

Dartmouth has selected Alexis Kanda-Olmstead, managing director for talent management, training, and support for the division of university advancement at Colorado State University (CSU), as director of advancement talent management.

Ms. Kanda-Olmstead will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing a comprehensive and nationally-recognized program of talent acquisition, development, retention, and transition based upon shared values of excellent performance, broad diversity, continuous improvement, and ethical practice for the full advancement division. In her role, she will advance onboarding activities and targeted training programs to build advancement-specific skills, knowledge, and competencies to increase employee effectiveness and retention through mid-management training, team building activities, and selected career planning.

While at CSU, Ms. Kanda-Olmstead designed and implemented the strategic talent management program for advancement staff that included learning and development programs, diversity and inclusion, and career and professional development initiatives. She has 20 years of experience in higher education, including roles of teaching, curriculum design, and co-curricular leadership program development for graduate and undergraduate students. Ms. Kanda-Olmstead created and led fundraising initiatives for CSU’s student center and student affairs department, managing a portfolio of prospects and donors to build the CSU parents fund and the student center endowment.

Ms. Kanda-Olmstead is on the faculty for the 2019 CASE Strategic Talent Management Conference and presents frequently at the national level on topics of diversity and inclusion. She is the founder of a women’s leadership development coaching and training practice. Ms. Kanda-Olmstead earned her bachelor’s degree in organizational studies from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University.
