Georgia College and State University has named Dr. Eric Tenbus as its new Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, effective June 1, 2018.

Dr. Tenbus is currently a professor of history and in his seventh year as Department Chair in the Department of History, Sociology, Anthropology, and Cross-Disciplinary Studies at the University of Central Missouri, where he has taught since 2001. As part of his professional duties, he served as secretary-treasurer for the Midwest Conference on British Studies (MWCBS), the largest regional branch of the North American Conference on British Studies (NACBS), for six years. Prior to this, he served as its vice-president for two years and is currently the organization’s president and sits on the NACBS Executive Council.

Tenbus arrived at Central Missouri from Florida State University in 2001, where he completed his PhD in History. He also holds an MA in History and an MA in Communications from FSU. He earned his BA in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1988. Prior to entering higher education, Tenbus worked in marketing, advertising, public relations, writing and editing, and event management for a high-tech marketing firm, the Department of Management Services with the state of Florida, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, at both the major league and minor league levels.
