Recruiting exceptional leaders for mission-driven organizations.

Chief Executive Officer Minneapolis, MN

The Minnesota Orchestra invites nominations and applications for the position of President and CEO.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to lead and strengthen a premier orchestra, one that is known for its high level of artistic excellence, its loyal audiences, and its international reputation as one of the world’s greats. Under the leadership of President and CEO Kevin Smith and Music Director Osmo Vänskä, the Orchestra is enjoying new momentum today after a challenging period in its history, with signature accomplishments and ambitious plans for the future. Much of this has been made possible by a new collaborative model for orchestral leadership that draws on the skills of musicians, staff, board, and community all working together to steer the organization.

The next president will be expected to build on the Orchestra’s current momentum to chart the course for the future. Reporting directly to the board of directors and working closely with colleagues throughout the organization, the president will be expected to nurture the Orchestra’s collaborative culture, ensure ongoing financial stability, support continued artistic growth, and continue to develop and expand the Orchestra’s programs and audiences.  The president will benefit from the Orchestra’s location in a major metropolitan region that values and supports its cultural institutions. The next president should bring leadership and management experience in a complex institution, a passion for the music of this extraordinary ensemble, and a commitment to the mission of the Minnesota Orchestra to ‘enrich, inspire and serve’ its community as an enduring symphony orchestra.

Sheryl Ash is leading the search with Allison Burson.

Inquiries, nominations, and referrals are also welcome and will be handled in confidence.

The Minnesota Orchestra is An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
