Executive Director Atlanta, GA

EARTH University Foundation, which provides the North American philanthropic support for EARTH University, has named Meridith L. Rentz as its new Executive Director, effective March 5, 2018.

EARTH University is a unique, international private university in Costa Rica. Since its beginning in 1990, EARTH has offered students from around the world a rigorous four-year undergraduate program in agricultural sciences, natural resources management, and community development. Today, EARTH’s 420 students come from more than 40 countries in Central and Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and elsewhere. While there, EARTH’s students develop the ethics, values, and commitment to environmental and social well-being that serve as their lifelong guides when they return to their home countries.

With more than 20 years of nonprofit and health sector experience, Meridith currently serves as the chief operating officer and chief of staff for Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, where she has worked since 2014. Prior to her position at Points of Light, she worked as the chief executive officer and president for MedShare International - an innovative nonprofit with the dual mission of delivering surplus medical supplies and equipment to underserved populations around the world while lessening the impact of medical waste across the United States. Her experience includes proven fundraising success, deep experience working across diverse geographies and cultures, and an understanding of the complexities of sustainable development.

Meridith was a Morehead Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her BA in economics, and a Woodruff Fellow at Emory University where she received her MBA. She also holds an MPH from Rollins School of Public Health.
