Recruiting exceptional leaders for mission-driven organizations.

President and Chief Executive Officer Hartford, CT

The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford (“the Foundation” or “JCF”) seeks a dynamic President and CEO to build on the organization’s more than 45 years of growth and success. As a community, Greater Hartford offers an intimate sized, robust, vibrant Jewish community where donors are engaged and care deeply about the community’s ability to thrive today and into the future. The Foundation serves as a thought leader for the community, sparking innovation, strategically engaging all generations, and guiding the community towards collaborative efforts. The Foundation embodies the Jewish values of service and generosity and seeks a President and CEO who will lead the organization to empower the community to continue to prosper, as the population ages and philanthropic trends change.

Since its founding in 1972, JCF has invested heavily in the health and vibrancy of the Greater Hartford Jewish community. In addition to funding initiatives within the community, the Foundation has been a trusted philanthropic advisor for donors pursuing meaningful philanthropic impact. With approximately $120 million in assets under management, over 1300 individual charitable funds, and annual grants of more than $4 million, JCF is among the largest foundations in the State of Connecticut.

Through partnership and collaboration with other local organizations, the Foundation’s focus today has been outward looking with an eye towards ways to strengthen the community, its donor base, and the philanthropic ecosystem. This next CEO will serve as an inspirational and collaborative leader who listens to community needs and perspectives, fosters engagement, promotes new ideas, and strategically drives the growth of the Foundation, while drawing connections to strengthen the thriving Jewish community of Greater Hartford. The CEO will engage all constituents with a focus on impact, innovation, and a broadening of engagement with younger and more geographically disbursed stakeholders.

The Foundation seeks an outstanding leader with a demonstrated passion for JCF’s mission and values as well as a deep understanding of both broad philanthropic trends and the changing needs of the North American Jewish community. This CEO will bring integrity, excellent relationship and team-building skills, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to be a positive spokesperson for the organization. Experience in donor relationships and fundraising is required, along with strong financial and business acumen. Experience with non-profit organizations and/or with grantmaking institutions is ideal and experience working with a non-profit board is preferred.
