Recruiting exceptional leaders for mission-driven organizations.

Associate Dean and Director, Weston Career Center St. Louis, MO

Following a restructuring of the Career Services provision in the wake of a deep analysis by the Boston Consulting Group, the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis seeks an ambitious, entrepreneurial, and strategic leader to serve as its next associate dean and director of the Weston Career Center (WCC). Reporting to the dean and the senior associate deans for graduate and undergraduate programs, the director will lead Olin’s corporate relations team and the WCC’s business development efforts and career services programming for students enrolled in all Olin degree programs. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a dynamic career services team and to position Olin’s accomplished graduates for success in an increasingly complex global business community.

Olin is one of the nation’s finest business schools that has benefited from an extended run of growth in quality of research, enrollment, faculty, breadth of offerings, and physical space. All of its programs are highly ranked, with the undergraduate program recently ranked number one or two by Poets & Quants in each of the last two years. The School now awards more than 800 degrees a year in programs taught by 98 full-time faculty members–respective increases of 45 and 51 percent over the past decade. Olin has doubled its footprint on its main campus in St. Louis through the construction of two new state-of-the-art buildings and continues to develop innovative international offerings as well as executive education programs in multiple major U.S. cities. Once comprised mainly of undergraduate and full-time MBA students, Olin now offers a full range of challenging academic programs: an elite undergraduate program; various specialized master’s programs; full-time, part-time, and executive MBA programs; a PhD program; a DBA in Finance for senior executives, and customized executive education offerings. Olin enjoys a reputation that places it among the top business schools in the nation in a variety of areas, including teaching, research excellence, student placement, and selectivity.

The WCC director will join the leadership team at Olin at an exciting time with Dean Mark Taylor in his second year at Washington University. The School is in the midst of a robust strategic planning process that will provide the next WCC director with the foundation to build a service-oriented and relationship-driven career services center. Olin boasts strong faculty, dedicated staff, and impressive students who have a track record of success in securing employment soon after graduation. The next director will be tasked with strengthening existing employer relations and developing new ones, anticipating changes in the global marketplace and leveraging Olin’s connections to respond to them, ensuring the WCC is accessible and useful to students enrolled in all degree programs, and enhancing collaborations with other administrative units within Olin and beyond.

The ideal candidate will possess at least five years of professional experience and knowledge of business/management careers and/or career services, as well as a proven track record of effectively managing a diverse and talented team of professionals. The candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to be an effective representative of Olin with executives and corporate partners, and a key liaison to the School’s leadership team, faculty, students, and highly successful alumni. An MBA is preferred.
