Chief Strategic Program Officer Newton, MA

Tthe Jewish Community Center of Greater Boston (JCCGB) has named Gavin Andrews, Chief Learning Officer at the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM), as its next Chief Strategic Program Officer, effective October 24, 2018.

Gavin comes to the JCCGB from the Peabody Essex Museum, where she has been a member of the Museum’s Executive Leadership Team and the Chief Learning Officer. During her tenure at PEM, Gavin focused on program alignments and growth, re-envisioned family engagement, and developed partnerships throughout the community to engage audiences in and out of the Museum. Her position also included extensive work in people and project management, long-range planning, analysis, and decision-making. Additionally, Gavin was highly successful in the development of strategic collaborations and partnerships, and generating funding and support for PEM’s innovative programming.

Gavin has long been committed to historic and contemporary Jewish art and culture. Early in her career she lived in Israel for several months researching late Canaanite and early Israelite archaeology as part of a two-year research position at the University of Texas at Austin, and most recently collaborated with the Jewish Arts Collaborative on their Pathways to Freedom project with artist Julia Vogl.

The newly created Chief Strategic Program Officer position at the JCCGB will focus Gavin’s work on four organizational priorities: alignment, people and culture, integration, and improvement. Gavin will work closely with the JCCGB’s President & CEO and Chief Finance and Administrative Officer to lead in the setting of direction, strategy, and priorities for the professional staff and leadership at the JCCGB.

In addition to a BA in Art & Art History from the University of Texas at Austin and an MS in Arts Administration from Boston University, Andrews has professional training in program evaluation and assessment.
