The Board of Directors of The Foundation for Maine’s Community Colleges has announced the appointment of Audrey Thomson to serve as the organization’s next president, effective September 4. The Foundation, which began its work in January of 2010, is dedicated to ensuring that the seven colleges of the Maine Community College System have the resources they need to provide a high-quality and affordable college education for more Maine people.

Thomson brings to The Foundation 15 years of experience in higher education, nonprofit and healthcare fundraising. Most recently, she has served as executive director of philanthropy with St. Mary’s and the Covenant Health Foundation in Lewiston. From 2006 to 2013 she served in senior fundraising positions in the School of Business and the School of Mass Communications at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Thomson is a graduate of Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in geography. Thomson resides in Freeport, Maine.
