Dean, College of Health and Human Services Charlotte, NC

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte has named Catrine Tudor-Locke, PhD, FACSM, FNAK as the next Dean of the College of Health and Human Services. She will assume this new role as Dean on August 12, 2019.

Dr. Tudor-Locke is currently Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Administration at the School of Public Health and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Tudor-Locke served as Chair of the Department of Kinesiology.

Dr. Tudor-Locke is an Elected Fellow to the National Academy of Kinesiology and is an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, and the International Society for Physical Activity and Health. Her research is on objective physical activity assessment and promotion, specifically focused on pedometer or accelerometer-determined ambulatory activity captured as steps per day across the lifespan. She has led the field in elevating the acceptance of step counting using a variety of body worn motion sensors for researchers, practitioners, and lay audiences. Dr. Tudor-Locke earned her MSc in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University and her PhD in Health Studies and Gerontology from the University of Waterloo.
