Assistant Vice President for Campus Life New Orleans, LA

Tulane University has selected Dr. Laura Osteen, Director of the Center for Leadership and Social Change at Florida State University, to serve as the next Assistant Vice President for Campus Life, effective July 22. In this role, Laura will provide leadership, management, and support for Fraternity and Sorority Life, New Student and Leadership Programs, and the Lavin-Bernick Center/Dining Commons.

Laura literally grew up in student affairs; her father, James Osteen, served as the Director of the Stamp Student Union at College Park before becoming Assistant Vice President at UMCP. Dr. Osteen attended Indiana University for undergrad and studied ballet, graduating with a BA in Speech Communications. She attended Colorado State for an M.S. in Student Affairs and Higher Education and then returned to Maryland for a Ph.D. in College Student Personnel with an emphasis in leadership development. Dr. Osteen has also had professional roles at Stephens College, University of Missouri-Columbia, and Kansas State University.

Laura has been at Florida State University for the past 14 years. In her current role, she has led the integration of three distinct academic and student affairs departments: leadership development, community engagement, and multicultural affairs. The center she leads helps educate and motivate students through both curricular activities in the classroom and co-curricular activities such as retreats, workshops and community engagement opportunities outside the classroom.
