Recruiting exceptional leaders for mission-driven organizations.

President and Chief Executive Officer Pittsburgh, PA

The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania (UWSWPA) seeks a dynamic new CEO. For more than 90 years, the United Way has inspired donors in the region to invest in their community and address pressing economic and societal problems. As the organization transforms itself to adapt to a rapidly changing environment for giving, its deep commitment to serving local people in need endures. It works to inspire and drive volunteerism and philanthropy, and supports programs and initiatives that assist financially struggling families, children, seniors, people with disabilities, and victims of disaster. UWSWPA has been remarkably successful and innovative over the past decade, with year-over-year growth and impactful, creative programming. It raised more than $37 million alone in 2017, and through the generosity of nearly 55,000 donors and more than 15,000 volunteers, it was able to serve more than 400,000 people in need.

UWSWPA is open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds who embrace its mission, embody its values, and have enough understanding of the human services sector to set strategy. The position calls for leadership and management experience in a complex organization, including leading through organizational growth and change and working with diverse constituencies at all levels. Candidates who come from or know the western Pennsylvania region and its stakeholders are preferred but UWSWPA also welcomes applications from exceptional leaders with experience in similar communities.
