Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS), a national education nonprofit, seeks a strategic, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven educational equity champion to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Founded and headquartered in Seattle, Washington, the organization’s mission is to ensure that students of all backgrounds have equal access to America’s most academically intense high school programs—and particularly that students of color and low-income students have opportunities to succeed at the highest levels for college and career success. EOS collaborates with school, district, county, state, and national leaders around the country to close race and income enrollment gaps as well as success gaps in their Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs.

Recognized as an innovator, EOS has received philanthropic support from foundations such as the Google Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Raikes Foundation, among others. To date, EOS has partnered with more than 540 schools in 180 districts across 29 states and has found 38,000 first-time AP/IB students of color and low-income students.

The next Chief Executive Officer will join EOS at an exciting and critical time in the evolution of the organization. In the last nine years, EOS established itself as an expert in the educational equity field with the tools and knowledge to partner with school districts to implement effective, data-informed equity strategies. Today, EOS has 65 employees and an annual operating budget of nearly $10M of which 70% is generated from earned revenue and 30% from philanthropy. This is a unique opportunity for the right leader to apply their sophisticated business acumen to drive educational equity impact – especially for students of color and from low-income families – by transforming a financially strong nonprofit poised for accelerated growth and enhanced social impact. The next CEO will have the responsibility to cultivate new revenue streams, forge new partnerships, expand brand visibility and thought leadership, strengthen the operational infrastructure, and provide visionary leadership for a deeply talented team.
