The University of Washington, Bothell has appointed Dr. Leslie Cornick to serve as the next Dean of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Dr. Cornick brings over ten years of experience in engineering education and academic leadership. Most recently she has served as the Associate Dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington. Prior to this, Dr. Cornick was at Alaska Pacific University in various capacities, including Dean of Research and Sponsored Programs, Department Chair of Marine and Environmental Sciences, Director of the Marine Physiological Ecology Laboratory, and faculty member.

Throughout her career, Dr. Cornick has been a champion for advancing diversity in STEM disciplines, having developed initiatives at Eastern Washington University to support women in computing and engineering. Additionally, her experience working with diverse student populations and interdisciplinary scholarly research will help advance the mission of the School of STEM and UW Bothell as a whole.

Dr. Cornick holds a bachelor’s in biological anthropology from University of California, San Diego, a master’s in Biology from San Francisco State University, and a doctorate in wildlife and fisheries sciences from Texas A&M University.
