Dean, College of Health Sciences, Education and Rehabilitation Elkins Park, PA

Salus University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Health Sciences, Education, and Rehabilitation. Originally established as the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) in 1919, Salus has grown into a graduate level health sciences university. As of the Fall of 2020, the merger between two of its colleges, the College of Health Sciences and the College of Education and Rehabilitation, will be completed to form the comprehensive College of Health Sciences, Education, and Rehabilitation (CHER).  

The Dean will join a strong institution at an important moment.   Salus recently celebrated historical milestones with its tenth anniversary as a university, and the centennial anniversary of its founding college, the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. These milestones and the adoption of a newly formed college provide a foundational moment to build upon the institution’s major successes and to plan for the future. The Dean has the opportunity to knit together this new college and further develop strong programs and scholarship in CHER. The Dean is a key member of Salus’s senior leadership team and will advance a campus culture of excellence, collaboration, transparency, and inclusion.

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate, preferably in the fields of health or education, experience in higher education administration, and a demonstrated track record of scholarship. Excellent communication skills and the proven ability to maintain effective relationships with a variety of constituencies are essential. The Dean will have a broad understanding of health, education, and rehabilitation programs, interprofessional education, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
