This is an exceptional opportunity to join an organization committed to the progressive policies that will ensure equitable access to education and student success.

The mission of Democrats for Education Reform is to cultivate and support leaders in the Democratic party who champion Americas public-school children. It aims to increase both the quantity and quality of elected Democrats who will fight to advance educational equity and to ensure that the Democratic Party, consistent with its progressive values, pursues education policies that enable all students, particularly students from low-income families and students of color, to obtain a globally competitive education that empowers them to fulfill their limitless potential. Unlocking billions of dollars to improve education outcomes for millions of students, and through work with congressional leaders and an influential network, DFER engages in policy and politics at the federal and national levels, with state affiliates, and in the K-12 and higher education arenas, and thus is very effective in leveraging change. Reporting to the National President, the COO will oversee six key areas within DFER and its affiliated organizations: Development, Finance, Communications, the Leaders of Color program, the National program of policy and coalition work, and its State Chapters.

In particular, the next COO will serve as a leader and strategic partner to the National President and leadership team; hold the departments accountable for advancing their respective strategic and programmatic goals; foster a culture that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion; support the growth of its departments and programs; and enhance external connections, focused on increasing efficacy with the mission and goals of DFER as part of the national program team. The successful candidate will be a decisive, seasoned leader with extensive experience managing a department or organization, and a demonstrated commitment to education policy reforms for students of color and low-income students. The COO will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate and lead a high-performance team. The successful candidate will bring strategic decision-making skills as well as demonstrated success in supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
