Vice President for Equity, Diversity, and Justice Los Angeles, CA

Mount Saint Mary’s University has named Dr. Krishauna Hines-Gaither at its Vice President for Equity, Diversity, and Justice, effective January 1st, 2022.

Krishauna currently serves as the Interim Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Director of the Intercultural Engagement Center at Guilford College after serving as the Associate Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion there for multiple years. At Guilford, Krishauna co-chaired the college’s first Staff of Color Committee, served on the Interfaith Council, and provided cutting-edge equity programming. Krishauna chaired the Diversity and Inclusion Council’s subcommittees to increase equity in curricular/co-curricular programs and to combat bias in hiring.

Krishauna previously served as the inaugural Director of Diversity and Inclusiveness (D&I) at Salem College, a women’s college in North Carolina, which is also her alma mater. As the Director of D&I, Krishauna advised several multicultural student clubs, and began the campus’s first large scale program for cross-cultural dialogues. She also supported efforts to diversify the faculty. Before she transitioned to administration, Krishauna was a Spanish professor.

Krishauna holds a B.A. in Spanish from Salem College, M.A.Ed. in Spanish Education from Wake Forest University, and a PhD in Educational Studies and Cultural Foundations with a concentration in Cultural Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
