Recruiting exceptional leaders for mission-driven organizations.

Chief Equity Officer Amherst, MA

Amherst College seeks a strategic and inspiring leader who brings optimism, energy, and generosity of spirit, along with a capacious mind and heart to become its chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer (CDEIO). Collaborative and committed to the liberal arts mission of the college, the successful candidate will serve as an advisor, advocate, and institutional resource for matters of diversity, equity, inclusion, workplace culture, and campus climate. Amherst values diversity in all its forms; significant progress has been made in recent years, particularly with regard to increasing racial and socio-economic diversity within the student body, faculty, and staff, and that work will continue. The college’s next CDEIO will build on this foundation, continuing to lead a culture change so that everyone who comes to Amherst feels they have a role in shaping their own experience as well as the college itself.

The CDEIO will report directly to President Carolyn “Biddy” Martin, serve in her cabinet, and consult regularly with the provost. The CDEIO provides college-wide leadership and accountability in fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment pivotal to the well-being of all Amherst faculty, staff, and students. Furthermore, this leader will collaborate with students, Student Affairs, Human Resources, and the provost’s office to further campus-wide efforts to weave diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout all of Amherst’s programs, initiatives, policies, and practices, crafting a shared vision and creating a more vibrant, inclusive, supportive campus climate and student experience.
