Recruiting exceptional leaders for mission-driven organizations.

Senior Vice President, Global Health Advocacy Incubator Washington, DC

The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (the Campaign), a leader in the fight to reduce tobacco use and its devastating consequences in the United States and around the world, is seeking a seasoned public policy advocate with international experience and exemplary organizing and management skills to serve as its Senior Vice President to oversee its innovative Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI).  The Campaign is the largest non-profit advocacy organization devoted to changing public attitudes and public policies related to tobacco.   GHAI was launched seven years ago to expand and complement the Campaign’s tobacco control work.  In its short history, GHAI has become a strong and successful resource supporting consequential public health advocacy across multiple issue areas and in multiple countries across the world. The potential for extraordinary public health policy changes orchestrated by GHAI in partnership with local agencies is unparalleled and compelling.

This is an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a passionate, savvy, and dedicated advocate and executive to play a pivotal role in improving public health and civic engagement across the globe. GHAI applies lessons learned in the global fight against tobacco to other, similarly challenging public health battles in the developing world. Over the last twenty years enormous progress has been made in reducing tobacco use in the United States and more recently on the international stage as well. The efforts to reduce tobacco use are often cited as one of the best examples of the power of effective advocacy to bring about meaningful change, and the Campaign has had the foresight to strategically apply its experience and successful strategies to collaborate with local public health advocates in educating policymakers, the media, opinion-leaders, and the wider public to implement policies to build a healthier and safer world.

The SVP is responsible for the design of new public health policy advocacy campaigns, the implementation, improvement, and evaluation of existing public health campaigns, and the integration of knowledge acquired in past and current campaigns to improve strategies and synthesize experience for successful future advocacy efforts. The SVP will ensure that the GHAI team works cooperatively and effectively with each other and with all other teams at the Campaign.
