Senior Director of Alumni and Constituent Engagement Amherst, MA

Amherst College seeks an innovative, energetic, and transformational senior director of alumni and constituent engagement to strategically and confidently interact and collaborate with the College’s various audiences and stakeholders. Equally critical is a commitment to and understanding of the relevance and value of a residential liberal arts education to the world. This position offers a seasoned professional the opportunity to take an already strong program and find new ways of engagement that are relevant and interesting to the diverse constituencies including alumni, parents, students, and friends. The senior director will work closely with the current staff to strategically grow the program through careful use of data, metrics, and alumni feedback. As the College is in the midst of Promise: The Campaign for Amherst’s Third Century, the senior director will actively participate in executing a vision to grow and promote alumni and constituent engagement with Amherst – including one another, faculty, students, staff, and administration.

Reporting to the associate chief advancement officer, the senior director is a leader in the Advancement division and will motivate and manage a team of 10. These staff members will collectively create and implement programs, events, and initiatives in support of the connections of alumni, parents, students, and friends to one another and the College. The senior director will provide administrative, strategic, and analytical planning and decision-making within the Alumni and Constituent Engagement team, and will also provide vision and leadership for all outreach including Association activity, on-campus engagement events, regional and affinity group programming, as well as student programming, and volunteer engagement. This individual will lead the team to enhance and increase alumni and parent involvement to meet their ever-growing desire for meaningful as well as intellectual engagement and identify opportunities to showcase alumni expertise on- and off-campus and virtually. The senior director is accountable for strategic and thoughtful planning, execution, and assessment of all programs overseen, and will also promote communications that are consistent with and supportive of the College’s overall direction. In addition, this individual will seek opportunities to maximize the engagement of the President, other key staff, faculty, and alumni leaders in advancing relationships to the College. In doing so, the senior director will provide support across the College on matters of interest to alumni.
