Associate Dean, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Pittsburgh, PA

The Tepper School of Business (Tepper) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) seeks a collaborative, knowledgeable, and action-oriented leader to serve as its first Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I). The Associate Dean will be a close collaborator with senior academic and administrative leaders, faculty, staff, students, and alumni to advance Tepper’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to ensure that the School is a welcoming and inclusive environment. To achieve these goals, the School’s leadership and community recognize that there is work to do and that the needed progress will require commitment, strong leadership, and coordinated action.

The Tepper School of Business consistently ranks among the top business schools in the world at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Tepper’s programs emphasize leadership, innovation, and communication as well as quantitative decision making and analytical approaches to problem solving for which the Tepper School is renowned. Faculty enrich the diverse and relatively small university community that prides itself on the open exchange of ideas, where discovery, creativity, and personal and professional development can flourish.

Reporting to Dean Isabelle Bajeux-Besnainou, the Tepper School is seeking individuals who have an academic record suitable for appointment as an Associate or Full Professor in either the tenure or teaching track.

The Associate Dean will be charged with delivering vision, strategic direction, coordination, and implementation on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives throughout the Tepper community. The successful candidate will collaboratively support efforts to recruit, develop, and retain diverse faculty, staff, and students; advance efforts to strengthen the sense of belonging among an increasingly diverse community; develop ways to foster the engagement of faculty, staff, students, and alumni in DE&I work; provide thought-leadership and cultivate key partnerships internally and externally; and develop inclusive curriculum and pedagogical practices. This is an incredible opportunity to directly impact diversity, equity, and inclusion at one of the top business schools in the country, as well as more broadly.
