Donors of Color Network, Executive Director

We are pleased to announce that Romilda Avila has been selected as the next Executive Director of the Donors of Color Network.

Romilda “Romy” Avila joins Donors of Color Network as a nationally recognized philanthropic and equity‑centered leader. She most recently served as CEO and President of Tides Advocacy, where she led a team of 50, supported more than 100 sponsored organizations nationwide, and stewarded a $153 million fiscal portfolio. She also guided a major strategy and brand transformation focused on racial justice and launched the Healthy Democracy Action Fund, a $12 million initiative supporting emerging civic leaders.

Before her executive leadership at Tides Advocacy, Romy served as a social impact consultant at FSG, advising foundations and nonprofits on collective impact and equity‑driven strategies. Earlier roles include research and consulting positions at BCT Partners, the Northwest Area Foundation, and the University of Minnesota, where she focused on racial wealth gaps, youth opportunity, and community wellbeing.

Named to the Philanthropy 100 in 2023, Romy is widely respected for her commitment to racial justice, strong fiscal stewardship, and transformative leadership. She holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida.
