Sara Metzger Deveaux | Assistant Head of School for Faculty and Academics The Taft School, Assistant Head of School for Faculty and Academics We are pleased to announce that Taft's Head of School, Peter Becker ’95, has appointed Sara Metzger Deveaux as the new Assistant Head of School for Faculty and Academics. Sara stepped into her new role in Summer 2025.A distinguished educator and leader in faculty development, pedagogy, and world language instruction, Sara previously served as the Director of the Henry R. Kravis ’63 Center for Excellence in Teaching at Loomis Chaffee. In this role, she led initiatives that promoted professional growth, instructional innovation, and inclusive teaching practices. With extensive experience mentoring faculty, designing professional development programs, and coaching teachers in equitable teaching, grading, and feedback processes, she played a pivotal role in shaping faculty culture and enhancing student learning. She also advised and taught French, fostering engagement through proficiency-based instruction and research-informed pedagogy.Her career spans more than three decades in independent schools, including leadership roles at Westminster School and consulting work for institutions such as Harvard-Westlake and The Browning School. A respected voice in education, she has co-authored a French language textbook, contributed to national conferences, served as a co-lead language teacher at The Klingenstein Summer Institute, and published articles on teacher evaluation and pedagogical best practices.
