Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA), Board Member

Isaacson, Miller is pleased to share the appointment of Ángel Cabrera, president of the Georgia Institute of Technology, to the board of trustees for TIAA. 

At Georgia Tech, Cabrera leads one of the nation’s largest public universities, with more than 55,000 students and a research enterprise exceeding $1.4 billion annually. Under his leadership since 2019, Georgia Tech has achieved record enrollment, heightened selectivity, and significant expansion in research activity and innovation districts.

Before joining Georgia Tech, Cabrera served as president of George Mason University and previously led the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Earlier in his career, he was a dean at IE Business School and played a central role in shaping the United Nations–supported Principles for Responsible Management Education, now adopted worldwide.

Cabrera was elected to the TIAA board in 2025 and helps to oversee the management and strategic direction of one of the nation’s largest financial services organizations serving the academic, research, and nonprofit sectors. He serves TIAA on its Audit Committee, Nominating and Governance Committee, and Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility Committee.

Additional board service includes the National Geographic Society, Harvard College Visiting Committee, Atlanta Committee for Progress, Metro Atlanta Chamber, and Bankinter Innovation Foundation in Spain. 

A Fulbright Scholar, Cabrera holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in psychology and cognitive science from Georgia Tech, as well as engineering degrees from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
