Greg Taylor Tides Foundation, Executive Director Tides has appointed Gregory “Greg” Taylor as the next Executive Director of Tides Foundation.Greg brings deep, long-standing foundation leadership experience — with a record of scaling foundations for sustained impact — and personal dedication to social justice. He’s been a champion and leader on youth issues, education, racial equity, and social justice — work that is deeply aligned with Tides’ principles of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, and its mission to shift power. Greg served as the first Executive Director of the NBA Foundation, where he led the startup and scaling of the league’s $300M, 10-year racial equity initiative, investing $100M into 350+ nonprofits and reaching 350K+ Black youth with education, workforce, and career development programs. Previously, he was the NBA’s Senior Vice President of Player Development, leading initiatives to support players’ personal and professional growth on and off the court. Prior to joining the NBA, Greg was the founding President and CEO of the Foundation for Newark’s Future, a $100M initiative to drive education reform in Newark, NJ. He raised $78M and secured groundbreaking agreements between schools and teachers’ unions to link teacher compensation and performance to student achievement. Earlier, at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, he served as VP of Programs, overseeing national initiatives in economic development, education, and racial equity to improve outcomes for youth and families in under-resourced communities.
