University of California, Berkeley, Vice Chancellor for University Development and Alumni Relations

The University of California, Berkeley has appointed Julie A. Lucas as its next Vice Chancellor for University Development and Alumni Relations. She began her role on September 8, 2025. 

An accomplished advancement leader, Lucas brings more than 25 years of experience in development strategy and campaign leadership across leading academic institutions. She most recently served as as vice president of resource development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she played a key role in raising over $6B through the Campaign for a Better World. Prior to MIT, she held senior fundraising roles at the University of Southern California, New York University and Fordham University.

At Berkeley, Lucas will lead university development and alumni relations (UDAR), overseeing development and alumni teams and serving as a member of the chancellor’s senior management team. Read more here.
