Associate Vice President, University Extension & International Programs California State University, East Bay | Hayward, California California State University, East Bay (Cal State East Bay) seeks an entrepreneurial and collaborative leader to serve as the next associate vice president for university extension and international programs (AVP).Cal State East Bay is a comprehensive public university and one of 23 campuses in the California State University (CSU) system. The university is noted for its excellence in applied education and the student learning experience, as well as the beauty of its campuses and proximity to all major Bay Area cities. Cal State East Bay offers rigorous coursework and research opportunities to more than 9,700 undergraduate students and over 2,500 graduate students, supported by approximately 760 faculty and 770 staff.The AVP will be joining Cal State East Bay at an exciting time. The institution has been led by President Cathy Sandeen since 2021. In July of 2025, Dr. Anthony Muscat was named university provost with a charge to build out innovative programs to meet the Bay Area community’s needs and industry demands while broadening access and closing equity gaps to prepare learners to excel in a global economy. Last fall, the California State University shared a new systemwide strategic plan, its first in more than a decade. This plan reflects the system’s commitment to ensuring that high-quality education for everyone is not just possible, but imperative for individual, community, and state vitality. The associate vice president for university extension and international programs at Cal State East Bay has a unique opportunity to scale revenue-generating programs, deepen partnerships across the East Bay, and position University Extension as a primary engine of innovation and access for the university.The AVP will be a member of the provost’s academic leadership team and will serve as the chief administrative officer and spokesperson for University Extension. In this capacity, the AVP will act as a vital link between Cal State East Bay and community leaders, identifying and supporting emerging workforce needs within the East Bay region of California and the broader global environment. The AVP will represent University Extension in developing partnerships with regional and international entities and initiatives and coordinate the development and evaluation of instructional program offerings and student support systems. In addition, the AVP will lead and strengthen international programs, including degree-seeking and certificate-seeking international students, as well as global exchange programs for domestic students.Screening of complete applications will begin immediately and continue until the completion of the search process.
