Provost & Executive Vice President New York Institute of Technology | Old Westbury, New York New York Institute of Technology (New York Tech) seeks a strategic, collaborative, and forward-thinking academic leader to serve as its next Provost and Executive Vice President (Provost). Reporting directly to the President and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, the Provost is the university’s chief academic officer, responsible for overseeing academic operations, long-range planning, support of research, and the implementation of programs that advance New York Tech’s mission. This role as the institution’s academic leader and strategic partner with the President includes direct supervision of academic affairs, including student engagement and development, and serves as a vital conduit between faculty and administration with a strong focus on student success.New York Tech is a private non-profit university with 3,355 undergraduate and 4,474 graduate and professional degree students spanning six schools and colleges, including engineering, medicine, architecture, health professions, business and arts and sciences. With campuses in New York City, Old Westbury, New York; Arkansas; Vancouver; and China, the university offers a distinctive platform for delivering high-impact, career-oriented education. The Provost will be charged with developing innovative academic programs and modalities that respond to market demand, strengthening student support systems, and enhancing New York Tech’s visibility to prospective students. Given the institution’s reliance on tuition revenue and the challenges posed by declining international enrollment, the Provost must bring creativity, data-informed strategy, and collaborative leadership to this critical role.In addition, the Provost will support the continued momentum of New York Tech’s research enterprise as the university advances toward its goal of Carnegie R2 classification. Working closely with the Vice Provost for Research and other senior leaders, the Provost will help expand interdisciplinary research initiatives, guide the development of new Ph.D. programs, and steward investments in cutting-edge facilities such as the Biomedical Research, Innovation, and Imaging Center (BRIIC). This role will be instrumental in elevating research productivity, increasing sponsored funding, and positioning New York Tech as a leader in applied research that benefits society.The Provost will also serve as a key advocate for faculty, fostering a culture of shared governance, transparency, and academic excellence. The faculty are represented by the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), except for the medical school faculty, who are not represented by a union. The Provost will lead contract negotiations with the faculty union and work collaboratively with union representatives to support and elevate faculty across the institution. The successful candidate will bring experience navigating complex labor environments and demonstrate the ability to build productive relationships grounded in mutual respect and institutional priorities.Finally, the Provost will champion a student-centered approach to academic success, aligning institutional resources to meet the evolving needs of New York Tech’s diverse student population. With a strong foundation in experiential learning and career readiness, the Provost will lead efforts to improve retention and graduation rates, support faculty in innovative teaching practices, and ensure students are equipped with the skills and experiences necessary for long-term success.
