Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration

Oregon State University (OSU), Oregon’s land-grant institution, seeks a visionary, strategic, innovative, and collaborative leader to serve as the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration (SVPFA) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This presents a remarkable opportunity to join the OSU community, guided by the inspiring leadership of President Jayathi Y. Murthy. Since her appointment in 2022, OSU has unveiled its latest strategic plan, Prosperity Widely Shared: The Oregon State Plan, celebrated the groundbreaking for the Jen-Hsun Huang and Lori Mills Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex, developed the beginning of a vision for AI at OSU, and successfully led the rebuilding of the PAC-12. Additionally, the OSU Foundation launched the second university-wide fundraising campaign, Believe it: The Campaign for Oregon State University, with a goal of $1.75 billion that OSU is on track to exceed. As of May 2026, donors have contributed $400 million toward the $500 million goal for student success: the largest goal of the Believe It campaign. In this context, the SVPFA will hold a pivotal role in ensuring the strategic and effective planning and allocation of financial resources to achieve OSU’s ambitious initiatives and strategic goals.

Reporting to President Murthy and serving as a key advisor to the President, a key partner to the Executive Vice President and Provost, and a member of the President’s Executive Cabinet, the SVPFA will oversee a division with more than 700 employees and a comprehensive portfolio including all aspects of finance and treasury, business services, budgets and fiscal planning, capital planning and construction, facilities maintenance, human resources, sustainability planning, insurance, transportation, environmental health and safety, procurement and contracting, and public safety. The SVPFA interacts regularly with the Board of Trustees and serves as an ex officio member of the Finance and Administration Committee (FAC), working closely with the FAC chair. The SVPFA also works closely with the OSU Foundation and its Board of Trustees.

Oregon State seeks a SVPFA who will not only collaboratively support the execution of the University’s current ambitious initiatives but also lead in the creation of the financial and administrative strategies to drive OSU’s next phase of growth and success. They must bring enthusiasm and capacity to lead a large, multi-faceted operation while playing a pivotal role in advancing OSU’s goals and vision for the future. Further, the ideal candidate is experienced in working within a highly complex environment and engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including academic and administrative leadership, faculty and staff, board members, and state legislators.
