Chief Quality Officer, UW Medicine

The University of Washington seeks an accomplished, collaborative, and strategic physician leader to serve as the next Chief Quality Officer (CQO) for UW Medicine. As UW Medicine continues to advance greater integration across its hospitals, ambulatory practices, School of Medicine, and affiliated partners, there is significant opportunity to strengthen alignment around overall safety, reliability, and clinical effectiveness of patient care. UW Medicine is home to strong localized quality efforts, deep clinical expertise, and a longstanding commitment to patient care, and the organization is looking for a CQO who can leverage these strengths to advance a unified, system-wide approach to quality improvement. The next CQO will strengthen the operational and cultural quality infrastructure across UW Medicine while strengthening collaboration across all clinical sites.

As a physician member of UW Medicine’s senior leadership team, the CQO will provide strategic direction and leadership for enterprise-wide quality and safety efforts across UW Medicine, helping to advance the organization’s aspirations towards achieving the “quadruple aim” and becoming a high reliability organization. Working with stakeholders spanning frontline care teams to executive leadership, the CQO will influence care delivery by strengthening engagement and accountability around quality and patient safety.

UW Medicine is one of the nation’s premier academic health systems and the only comprehensive clinical, research, and learning health system serving the five-state WWAMI region. Its integrated enterprise encompasses hospitals, physician organizations, research programs, educational activities, air medical transport services, an independent organization serving as UW Medicine’s cancer program (Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center), and numerous affiliated organizations, creating a uniquely complex operational environment. The breadth of UW Medicine’s activities—combined with longstanding partnerships with organizations such as Seattle Children’s, and the Veterans Administration—offers an extraordinary platform for a leader energized by building partnerships, aligning diverse stakeholders, improving outcomes, and creating lasting organizational impact.

The salary range for this position will be $475,000 to $550,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
