The Department of Surgery spans major surgical divisions, including general surgery, surgical oncology, trauma, burns, cardiothoracic, vascular, pediatric, plastic and reconstructive surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and surgical critical care/ECMO. With 47 full‑time faculty, more than 90 clinical faculty, and a broad clinical network, the Department educates 1,200 medical students and trains more than 70 residents and fellows across the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Detroit Receiving Hospital, Harper University Hospital, John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, and Karmanos Cancer Institute.Wayne State seeks a surgeon leader with the vision, operational acumen, and collaborative spirit to guide the Department of Surgery into its next era of clinical strength, educational excellence, and research advancement.
