Head of School Albany Academy | Albany, New York We are pleased to announce that Michael G. Turner has been selected as the next Head of School at Albany Academy, effective July 1, 2026.Mr. Turner brings more than three decades of leadership experience across education, business, and government sectors. He comes to Albany Academy most recently from The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania (2019-2024) and St. Michael’s Episcopal School in Richmond, Virginia (2014-2019), where he served as Head of School. In those capacities, he spearheaded major strategic initiatives, strengthened governance, secured financial stability, and ensured programmatic excellence. Prior to leading St. Michael’s Episcopal School, Mr. Turner served as Director of Admission for Upper and Middle School, a teacher, an advisor, and a coach at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, Virginia (2009- 2014). Earlier in his career, he taught, advised, and coached at Germantown Academy in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, and at The Roxbury Latin School in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was also sophomore grade dean. Following his tenure as Head of School at Shipley, Mr. Turner served as a Senior Advisor supporting Shipley’s transition and strategic initiatives. He is also the founder and president of MT Partners, an educational consulting firm. Mr. Turner graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a dual-major B.A. in public policy and environmental studies.
