Vice President for Board Relations American Board of Pediatrics | Chapel Hill, North Carolina We are pleased to announce the appointment of Kenya McNeal-Trice as the Vice President for Board Relations at the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). As a member of the senior leadership team, she will lead the ABP’s support of key priorities for the pediatrics community that will advance the ABP’s mission and contribute to its overall vision for children. Dr. McNeal-Trice comes to the ABP after serving as a Professor of Pediatrics and the Senior Vice Chair of Education in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. In that role, she provides executive oversight for educational programs, including undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education. Dr. McNeal-Trice was certified by the ABP in 2006 and began volunteering for the organization during the original creation of entrustable professional activities (EPAs) in 2013, co-authoring three of the EPA curricular documents and an essential document on behavioral mental health. She joined the ABP’s Education and Training Committee in 2020 and participated in the 2024 Future of Certification Summit. “Dr. McNeal-Trice is a deeply respected pediatrician, educator, and advocate who brings a wealth of experience in medical education, academic leadership, and organizational stewardship,” says Michael Barone, MD, MPH, President and CEO of the ABP. “Kenya also has been a national voice for important pediatric policy and health equity initiatives through her work with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Academic Pediatric Association, and the American Pediatric Society,” adds Dr. Barone. “We are fortunate that she will bring her leadership, vision, and passion for pediatrics to the ABP.” Dr. McNeal-Trice earned a bachelor's degree from Spelman College and her medical degree from Wayne State University.
