Vice President for University Advancement California State University, Stanislaus | Turlock, California California State University, Stanislaus (Stanislaus State) has named Catherine Wooton as vice president for university advancement, effective May 12, 2025. Wooton brings more than 30 years of experience in philanthropic advancement and higher education leadership, with a demonstrated record of fostering strategic partnerships, championing student success, and inspiring transformative philanthropy.In this role, Wooton will lead the University’s development, alumni relations, and advancement operations, guiding efforts to strengthen philanthropic impact and deepen engagement with donors, alumni, and the broader community. Her leadership will be instrumental in building a more inclusive and robust culture of giving — one that expands access to Stanislaus State’s nationally ranked academic programs and enhances economic vitality throughout the Central Valley.Wooton began her advancement career at her alma mater, University of the Pacific, where she served in progressively responsible roles over a 29-year tenure. As senior associate vice president for advancement, she led teams in advancement services, planned giving and annual giving, alumni engagement, and campaign planning. Her contributions to Pacific’s landmark $125 million Powell Match program helped establish numerous endowed scholarships and enriched academic opportunities for students. Over the course of her career, Wooton has played key roles in multiple campaigns totaling over $500 million. Most recently, Wooton served as vice president for advancement at Idaho State University, where she strengthened advancement operations and doubled fundraising results, securing $19 million in new commitments and cash in fiscal year 2024. Her leadership there included the successful completion of a $20 million scholarship campaign and the groundwork for a future comprehensive campaign. A proud first-generation college graduate, Wooton earned her bachelor’s degree cum laude in diversified studies from the University of the Pacific and later pursued post-graduate studies in curriculum and instruction.
