President and Chief Executive Officer Cheyenne Mountain Zoo | Colorado Springs, Colorado We are pleased to announce that Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has appointed Dave Ruhl as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 12, 2026.Ruhl currently serves as Executive Vice President at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. He joined the organization in April 2020 as Vice President of Operations and Campus Planning and, after three years on the executive leadership team, was promoted to Executive Vice President. In these roles, Ruhl has provided strategic and operational leadership across the Zoo, supporting its mission in animal welfare, conservation, education, and guest experience.During his tenure, Ruhl has played a central role in major capital and infrastructure initiatives, including the design, construction, and financial management of the International Center for the Care and Conservation of Giraffe, scheduled to open in summer 2026. He also helped guide the completion of Water’s Edge: Africa, expanding animal habitats and enhancing the visitor experience. In addition to his operational leadership, Ruhl is known for fostering staff engagement and strengthening organizational culture.Beyond the Zoo, Ruhl is active in the broader Colorado Springs community.
