Gómez as the associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Florida State University.Dr. Gómez brings more than two decades of student affairs experience, all within the State University System of Florida. Formerly the Director of Florida State University’s Counseling & Psychological Services since 2014, Gómez brings leadership and expertise in supporting students and staff’s well-being and bringing student-centered solutions into practice. Gómez is a skilled advocate with unwavering support for students and their success.A committed member of the FSU community, Gómez has gained a portfolio of collaborative accomplishments related to improving the overall student experience through implementing and strengthening impactful programs, stewarding and investing in resources for students, and recruiting and developing a talented team of professionals.Prior to joining Florida State, Dr. Gómez was director of training at Florida International University’s Counseling & Psychological Services. “I am thrilled that Dr. Gómez will be taking on this new role,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Amy Hecht. “His leadership and expertise will undoubtedly strengthen our university’s commitment to supporting the health, safety and success of all students.” Gómez earned his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and a Master of Science in Education and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Miami.
