Deputy Chief Information Officer of Data, Analytics, and AI

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Mark Nehmer as Deputy Chief Information Officer for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, Digital Solutions Department at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, effective September 15, 2026.

Mark brings more than 40 years of information technology and data experience, including more than 16 years of federal IT leadership in national security. He is a proven leader in building enterprise data, analytics, and AI programs, establishing AI strategies and governance, and standing up multiple mission-critical technology and data organizations. He authored federal agency AI and data strategies and designed responsible AI concepts of operations aligned with federal policies. He also architected secure AI and data environments, including zero-trust AI infrastructure and AI-driven data governance solutions, to operationalize advanced analytics in support of Department of War mission partners.

In this new role, Mark will lead Digital Solutions’ AI and data strategy, drive secure and scalable data and analytics capabilities, and promote the ethical and responsible use of AI across the enterprise. He will also help cultivate a data-driven culture and strengthen multidisciplinary technical teams to support mission and business objectives.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from the University of Michigan and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Information Systems from Fontbonne University.
